Famous Landmark: Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
Eiffel Tower is Paris' most famous landmark, and its most popular tourist attraction. Located on the Champ de Mars, the tower was constructed quite quickly between 1887 and 1889 to be ready for the 1889 World's Fair.
Initially, the steel tower was criticized for its design and was supposed to be destroyed just after 20 years. However, the Eiffel Tower has become an icon of the city and is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the world.
The tower's height is 324 metres, making it the tallest structure in Paris and second tallest structure in France after the Millau Viaduct. Eiffel Tower has three levels for visitors. The top level's upper platform is 276 m above the ground.
